Description
Gramona is a Penedès family house with more than 120 years of winemaking and cava behind it, based in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia. Mas Escorpí is an estate Chardonnay grown under biodynamic farming. The climate is typically Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and dry winters, while the loamy clay soils hold moisture and give the wine body and a mineral base, and the biodynamic viticulture is aimed at keeping the vines balanced and the fruit expressive. Made young with no oak, this is Chardonnay in its fresh, unwooded form; stainless-steel handling at cool temperatures keeps the fruit primary and preserves acidity, showing the grape without the vanilla and butter of barrel ageing. The colour is pale lemon with a green tint. The nose is clean and bright, with green apple, lemon and white peach over white flowers and a hint of melon. The palate is dry and fresh, its orchard and citrus fruit carried by crisp acidity and a fine, mineral finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It works with white fish, shellfish and lighter poultry dishes.
