Gramona, a fifth generation Penedès family, makes this biodynamic rosé from the rare native Xarel·lo Vermell. Pale pink and delicate, it shows fresh raspberry and peach over a floral note, finishing light and dry.
Description
Gramona Mart is a biodynamic rosé made in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia in the D.O. Penedès by Gramona, a family winery run by the fifth generation and known for traditional method cava and a creative range of still wines. It is made from Xarel·lo Vermell, the pink skinned mutation of the native Xarel·lo grape, a rare variety the winery has chosen to champion. Penedès has a Mediterranean climate moderated by altitude and the nearby sea, with limestone soils that hold freshness; biodynamic farming keeps the vineyards balanced and the fruit expressive. The grapes take gentle, brief skin contact to draw a pale colour before a cool fermentation that protects the delicate aromatics of the variety. The colour is a delicate pale pink. The nose is fresh and vibrant, showing raspberry and peach over a floral note of rose and white flowers. The palate is light and dry, with crisp acidity, gentle red and stone fruit and a clean, mineral finish. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees. It works as an aperitif and with light seafood and salads.
