Description
Champagne Gosset traces its origins to 1584 and is the oldest wine house in the region, known for a rich, textured style. The Grande Reserve is its flagship non-vintage Brut, blended from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier drawn across several villages. It is made by the traditional method, with the second fermentation in bottle followed by long ageing on the lees, which is what gives the cuvee its toasted and nutty depth alongside the fruit. The modest brut dosage keeps the finish dry and precise.
The wine is a bright gold with a fine, sustained bead. The nose mixes apple, pear and white peach with toasted bread, hazelnut and a touch of honey, while the palate is broad and structured with a saline edge that lengthens the close. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass to show the aroma. It is an excellent aperitif and pairs with shellfish, white fish, poultry and hard, nutty cheese.
