Description
Golden Horse Bushu is a blend produced under the Toa Shuzo ownership that operated Hanyu distillery in Saitama Prefecture before its closure in 2000. The Golden Horse range was the label Toa used for its domestic Japanese market blended whiskies, and this NAS expression was bottled in 2016 from stock associated with that era.
Matured in Ex-Bourbon casks, the liquid carries the light, grain-led warmth typical of Japanese domestic blends from this period. Citrus freshness and malt extract are the defining notes, and at 43% the palate is rounded and approachable rather than intense, making this a historically interesting relic of the Hanyu site's commercial blending output before the distillery fell silent.
