Description
Goldeck is one of Austria's largest and best-known Sekt brands, specialising in single-variety sparkling wines from typical Austrian grapes. This dry rose is built from 100 per cent Zweigelt, the country's most planted red variety, which brings juicy red fruit and gentle spice. Production runs entirely within Austria, and the wine is made in the tank tradition, raised in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh and the style clean rather than autolytic.
The wine is a clear rose with fine red-berry lights. The nose shows rose petals and a subtle mineral note, while the palate carries wild berries, cranberry and sour cherry alongside a fuller strawberry fruit with light spice. The finish is smooth, harmonious and long. Serve chilled at around 7 to 8 degrees in a white wine glass. It is versatile at the table, matching grilled trout, lighter meat dishes and even a chocolate dessert, and works well as an aperitif.
