Glorioso Selección Especial 2022

Glorioso Selección Especial is a Tempranillo from D.O.Ca. Rioja, a special edition from Bodegas Palacio built on a selection of the best fruit from the winery's vineyards around Laguardia in Rioja Alavesa. This sub-zone sits at the cooler, higher end of Rioja on chalky clay soils over limestone, where altitude widens the day-to-night temperature swing, preserving acidity and lending the wine its mineral, graphite edge alongside ripe fruit. After fermentation the wine spends thirteen months in French oak, where slow oxygen exchange firms the tannins and adds spice and a fine vanilla note while keeping the fruit intensity to the fore. The colour is deep cherry red. The nose is ripe red and black fruit over spice, graphite and a subtle mineral echo. The palate is medium to full bodied, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity and a savoury, stony finish. This is Rioja in a fruit-forward modern style that still keeps its classic structure. Serve at 16 to 18 degrees with grilled and roast meats. It works with lamb and aged cheese.
