Lady of the Glen is an independent bottling label run by Hannah Whisky Merchants, founded by Gregor Hannah and named after a Robert Burns poem. The Rare Cask range presents single casks at natural strength under direct cask identification, drawing from working broker stocks. This Glenrothes 14 Years Old, distilled in 2006 and bottled in 2020 from cask number 1 at 55.9%, runs to just 68 bottles released into the event market. The small outturn reflects either a hogshead format or notable angel's share.

Fourteen years in a single Oloroso cask sits in the productive middle window for sherry maturation. The cask's first fill activity is well developed and European oak tannin contribution has matured into structure rather than aggression. The residual Oloroso sherry residue has fully integrated through accumulated cask interaction, while lignin's breakdown delivers vanillin and syringaldehyde alongside hemicellulose's furfural chemistry. The cask's sotolon contributes the savoury walnut depth that distinguishes well aged Oloroso.

On the nose, raisin and fig sit with polished oak underneath, the cask's developed sherry signature clearly forward. The palate moves through dark chocolate, dried prune and a savoury walnut depth, with 55.9% strength delivering the cask's accumulated chemistry without astringency. A developing leathery quality threads through mid palate. The finish runs long and gently tannic, European oak holding the spirit's Speyside fruit in balance against the cask's oxidative chemistry.
