The Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura 29 Year Old is a remarkable addition to Glenfiddich’s Grand Series, known for its innovative and luxurious whisky expressions. This particular release stands out due to its unique finishing process in rare Japanese Awamori casks, a first for Glenfiddich and a rarity in the whisky industry. Awamori is a traditional distilled spirit from Okinawa, Japan, made from long-grain indica rice and aged in clay pots, and its casks bring a distinct character to the whisky.

Description
Initially matured for 29 years in a combination of American and European oak casks, the Grand Yozakura is then finished in these Awamori casks, which impart complex flavors that blend the traditional Glenfiddich profile with subtle, exotic notes of rich umami, tropical fruits, and a hint of spice. "Yozakura" is derived from the Japanese words "yo" (夜) meaning "night" and "sakura" (桜) meaning "cherry blossom." The term "Yozakura" refers to the solemn practice of viewing cherry blossoms at night, a traditional and culturally significant event in Japan. A poetic layer to the expressison, symbolizing an experience that is both rare and beautiful, much like the whisky itself.
