One of the most renowned releases from Glenfiddich is their second bottling of a 50-year-old whisky, which was introduced in 2009. This special edition was created by marrying casks from 1955 and 1957, producing 500 bottles in total. Each bottle is hand-blown, adorned with a silver medallion, and released in extremely limited quantities, with only 50 bottles available annually from 2009 to 2019. This release followed the distillery’s first 50-year-old bottling, which paid tribute to William Grant’s nine children, who were instrumental in building the distillery’s legacy.

Description
Glenfiddich, founded by William Grant in 1886, has been a significant pioneer in the whisky industry, particularly in the promotion of single malt Scotch. The distillery, which distilled its first spirit on Christmas Day in 1887, remains family-owned under William Grant & Sons. Glenfiddich was the first distillery to actively market its single malt brand in 1963, helping to establish the single malt Scotch category globally. The distillery was also the first to open its doors to visitors, further solidifying its role as a trailblazer in the industry. Today, Glenfiddich is one of the best-selling Scotch whisky brands worldwide, with its large-scale operations reflecting its historical significance.
