Released in 2020, this expression is the 17th installment in the series, continuing the tradition of meticulously crafted 40-year-old single malts that began with the first release in 2000.
Each batch of Glenfiddich 40 Year Old is created using a unique “remnant vatting” process, where the remaining liquid from the previous batch is married with the casks selected for the new release. This technique ensures consistency and continuity across releases, with each bottling retaining some of the spirit from previous batches, creating a whisky with extraordinary depth and complexity.

Release No. 17 is bottled at 44.6% ABV, a strength that preserves the whisky's rich and layered flavors. The whisky offers a complex profile with notes of dried fruits, dark chocolate, roasted coffee, and a hint of smoke, underpinned by rich oak and sherry influences. The finish is long and warming, characteristic of such a well-aged spirit.
Each bottle of Glenfiddich 40 Year Old Release No. 17 is individually numbered and presented in a handcrafted wooden box, accompanied by a leather-bound book detailing the whisky's history and production. Only 1234 bottles were produced for this release, making this whisky highly sought after by collectors.
