Description
A Glendullan of an 11 year old chosen by Hunter Laing, distilled in 2010, at 46%, one of 348 bottles. Glendullan is a Speyside single malt known for a green, grassy, lightly fruity style. It sits on the banks of the River Fiddich, in the heart of Speyside. A second distillery was built alongside the original in 1972, the two running together until the old plant closed in 1985.
The spirit was drawn from a long fermentation, for a clean, grassy make with a fruity lift. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the fresh, fruity character to the fore. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin rounding out as esters lend a riper orchard and tropical fruit. Years in oak deepen the spirit to gold, the body growing rounder with time. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and a soft coconut over the fruit. A light, clean texture from the spirit carries through the maturation.
At 46% it is fruity, creamy and soft. A fresh orchard fruit and a malty sweetness, lifted by a soft oak. A green apple and a gentle citrus lift the middle. The finish is light, fruity and clean. This is a clean, fruity Speyside single malt.
