Description
Liquid Treasures bottled this Glendullan, a 10 year old, distilled in 2010, at 55%, one of 240 bottles. Glendullan is a Speyside single malt known for a green, grassy, lightly fruity style. It was the last of the Dufftown stills, the town said to stand on seven stills as Rome stands on seven hills. Since 2007 its single malt has been bottled as the Singleton of Glendullan, aimed at the United States. Its founder also struck an exclusive supply deal with neighbouring Glenfiddich.
The spirit was run slowly off the spirit still, building a clean malt of orchard fruit and a grassy edge. It was matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood working into the fruity malt. In integration coconut and vanilla knit with the malt, the pear softening towards a creamy honey. Maturation runs slow and even in the warehouses at Dufftown. Years in oak deepen the spirit to gold, the body growing rounder with time.
Bottled at a cask strength 55%, it is concentrated. A grassy, malty sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The body is light and fresh, the fruit lifted by a soft oak. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a light, grassy Speyside single malt.
