Glendronach from the distillery, a 29 year old, cask Batch 12, at 49.2%, 2940 bottles in all. Glendronach is a deep, dark Highland malt of dried fruit, chocolate and spice. Its water is the Dronac Burn, which also gave the distillery its name. It was bought in 1920 by Charles Grant, a son of the founder of Glenfiddich. It ferments in Oregon pine washbacks over long fermentations for a full, fruity spirit. It passed to Brown Forman, owner of Jack Daniel's, in 2016 as part of a 285 million pound deal.

The spirit was distilled in copper pot stills, building a deep malt of dried fruit and dark sugar. It was fully matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood deep in the rich spirit. At this evaporative stage ellagitannins lend structure while oxidation builds a richer raisin and treacle. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and a soft coconut over the fruit.

Bottled at a cask strength 49.2%, it is deep and concentrated. A rich, sherried sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Fig, honey and a dark chocolate fill the middle. A long finish carries raisin, chocolate and a treacle. This is a dark, fruity Highland single malt.
