This official Glendronach, a 19 year old, from 1993, cask 1617, at 57.7%, 625 bottles in all. Glendronach is a deep, dark Highland malt of dried fruit, chocolate and spice. It joined William Teacher and Sons in 1960 and became a core malt of the Teacher's blend. By 1862 it had grown into the largest duty paying distillery in the Highlands.

Distilled to a rich, generous cut, shaping a rich Highland body with real weight. An Oloroso sherry butt held it, drawing the rich spirit on over the years. Through oxidative maturity the esters concentrate, the orchard notes turning to raisin, fig and a dark chocolate. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and a soft coconut over the fruit. Years in oak deepen the spirit to a darker gold, the body growing rounder and more resinous with time. Long ageing turns the fresh notes towards date, prune and a dark, bittersweet chocolate.

Bottled at a cask strength 57.7%, it is deep and concentrated. A rich orchard sweetness and dark sugar, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Fig, honey and a dark chocolate fill the middle. The finish is rounded, dark and spiced. This is a richly sherried Highland single malt.
