A 6 year old Glencadam from The Vintage Malt Whisky Co Ltd, 2011, at 46%. A clean, fruity malt over a light, creamy body, with red berry, plum and a dry spice from the cask. Revived under Angus Dundee ownership in 2003 after a three year closure. Its upward angled lyne arms raise the reflux for a lighter, fruitier spirit. This is Glencadam’s delicate, creamy Highland character.

Description
This Glencadam comes from The Vintage Malt Whisky Co Ltd, the Glasgow bottler founded by Brian Crook in 1992, a 6 year old, distilled in 2011, from cask 0349, at 46%, one of 540 bottles. Glencadam is a Highland single malt, long a core flavour of the Ballantine's blend. In the 1890s the Glasgow blender Gilmour Thomson used its malt in a Royal blend said to be favoured by Edward VII. It was bought by Angus Dundee Distillers in 2003, who also own Tomintoul, ending a three year closure.
It was run slowly off the spirit still, giving a light, clean, creamy Highland spirit. A Port cask held it, drawing the light spirit on over the years. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit light, fresh and fruity. Because the upward lyne arms keep the spirit light, the cask shows clearly through the years. A soft, creamy texture from the spirit carries through the maturation.
At 46% it is fruity, creamy and soft. Pear, melon and a light barley note, with red berry, plum and a dry spice from the cask. It is fruity and gently creamy, the delicate spirit shining through. It finishes light, fresh and faintly creamy. This is a light, fruity Highland single malt.
