Glencadam from the distillery, a 15 year old, from 2008, at 46%, 5826 bottles in all. Glencadam is a Highland single malt, the last distillery in Brechin and the only one in Angus. Most of its make long went to blends; bottled single malt Glencadam was rare until a full range arrived. It was bought by Angus Dundee Distillers in 2003, who also own Tomintoul, ending a three year closure. Its stills carry lyne arms angled upward, raising the reflux for a lighter, fruitier spirit.

It was distilled in onion shaped copper pot stills, for a fine, fruity spirit with a light body. A Madeira cask held it, drawing the light spirit on over the years. Through oxidative maturity the esters concentrate, the orchard fruit turning to mango, pineapple and a waxy honey. Long ageing turns the fresh pear towards tropical fruit, honey and a gentle spice.

Bottled at 46%, it is light and creamy. Pear drops, melon and a soft barley sugar, with a nutty, raisined sweetness from the cask. The mouthfeel is light and creamy, carrying the fruit. Green apple, citrus and a soft oak see it out. This is a fruity, easy going Highland single malt.
