An official Glencadam, a 13 year old, at 46%. A delicate, fruity malt of apple, citrus and a soft spice. Water comes from Loch Lee in the Cairngorms. Its upward angled lyne arms raise the reflux for a lighter, fruitier spirit. Founded in 1825 by the merchant George Cooper, in the eastern Highlands. This is the rather delicate Highland malt.

Description
Glencadam from the distillery, a 13 year old, cask Batch 5, at 46%, 7770 bottles in all. Glencadam is a Highland single malt, revived under Angus Dundee ownership in 2003. The distillery markets itself on a deliberately delicate house style, all orchard and tropical fruit. Its water comes from Loch Lee in the Cairngorms, piped down through the River Esk catchment. It is the only distillery in Angus, and the last in Brechin since North Port closed in 1983.
The spirit was run slowly off the spirit still, shaping a gentle, fragrant malt with a tropical lift. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending a creamy vanilla. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin rounding out as esters lend a riper orchard and tropical fruit. Maturation runs slow and even in the cool, racked Highland warehouses. Because the upward lyne arms keep the spirit light, the cask shows clearly through the years.
At 46% it is smooth and fruity. Apple, apricot and a gentle spice, lifted by a soft oak. A green apple and a gentle citrus lift the middle. A long, fruity finish carries a creamy honey. This is a fresh, fruity Highland single malt.
