Description
Decadent Drinks bottled this Glencadam, a 13 year old, distilled in 2012, at 53%, one of 282 bottles. Glencadam is a Highland single malt whose upward angled lyne arms give a light, fruity spirit. Most of its make long went to blends; bottled single malt Glencadam was rare until a full range arrived. Its single malts are bottled at 46 percent, without chill filtration or added colour.
Distilled from unpeated malt, shaping a gentle, fragrant malt with a tropical lift. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending a creamy vanilla. By the integrating teens the raw notes fade and esters build, the fruity spirit growing rounder and creamier. A soft, creamy texture from the spirit carries through the maturation. Active wood frames the fruit without ever crowding the light Highland spirit. The clean, fruity spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out a creamy honey.
At a hearty 53% it carries real weight. A delicate, tropical fruit with a soft body, lifted by a soft oak. A green apple and a gentle citrus lift the middle. The finish runs delicate, fruity and creamy. This is a gently fruity, creamy Highland malt.
