A Summer 1995 Glenburgie from Gordon and Company, distilled in 1995, from cask 6281, at 54.1%, one of 318 bottles. Glenburgie is a clean, fruity Speyside malt, light and fresh in the glass. Its water is drawn from a local spring near the distillery.

It was drawn from a long fermentation, building a light malt of orchard fruit and fresh grass. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a soft honey over the orchard fruit. With no age statement, vanillin reads as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over the light, fruity spirit. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and a soft coconut over the fruit. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards beeswax, tropical fruit and a gentle spice. A soft waxiness from the spirit carries a thread through the maturation. The spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out a soft beeswax. Maturation runs slow and even in the cool Speyside warehouses.

At a hearty 54.1% it carries real weight. A soft, orchard led sweetness with a floral lift, lifted by a soft oak. A green apple and a gentle citrus lift the middle. The close is light and clean, fruit over a gentle oak. This is a fresh, fruity Speyside single malt.
