Glenburgie 20 Years Old (MoM)

A Glenburgie of a 20 year old chosen by Master of Malt, at 51.4%. Glenburgie is a clean, fruity Speyside malt, light and fresh in the glass. Its water is drawn from a local spring near the distillery. It was expanded to six stills after the rebuild, one of the bigger distilleries in the group.

Run slowly off the spirit still, shaping a fine, clean malt with a floral lift. Maturation came in an Oloroso cask, layered over the fresh Glenburgie make. Through oxidative maturity the esters concentrate, the apple and pear turning to a waxy honey and soft tropical fruit. Active wood frames the fruit without ever crowding the Speyside spirit. Built for the blender's art, the make ages with quiet grace as a single malt. A soft waxiness from the spirit carries a thread through the maturation. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and a soft coconut over the fruit.

At a natural 51.4% it is full and waxy. Apple, pear and fresh cut grass, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. It is soft and gently waxy, the light spirit shining through. A fresh finish closes on apple and a soft oak. This is Glenburgie's bright, orchard led Speyside character.
