This Glenburgie was bottled by Signatory Vintage, a 12 year old, at 63.6%. Light and clean, with apple, citrus and a waxy note, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A blending malt, rarely seen on its own and mostly from independents. Now one of the larger Speyside distilleries, with six stills. This is Glenburgie’s bright, orchard led Speyside character.

Description
Chosen by Signatory Vintage, the Edinburgh house that bottles at Edradour above Pitlochry, this a 12 year old Glenburgie, distilled in 2007, from cask 900077, at 63.6%, one of 595 bottles. Glenburgie is a Speyside single malt made near Alves in Moray, east of Forres. Its water is drawn from a local spring near the distillery. Its make has long fed big blends like Old Smuggler down the decades. It has belonged to Chivas Brothers, part of Pernod Ricard, since 2005.
Worked unhurried through the stillhouse, building a light malt of orchard fruit and fresh grass. An Oloroso cask held it, drawing the light spirit on over the years. In integration coconut and vanilla knit with the malt, the apple softening towards a waxy honey. The spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out a soft beeswax. Maturation runs slow and even in the cool Speyside warehouses.
At a natural 63.6% it is full and waxy. Baked apple, grass and a light honey, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run baked apple, a light citrus and a soft honey. A long, fruity finish carries a waxy honey. This is a fragrant Speyside single malt of real lightness.
