Description
This Glenburgie was bottled by Douglas McGibbon, a 12 year old, distilled in 1999, from cask DMG 8015, at 46%. Glenburgie is a light, fruity Speyside malt of orchard fruit, grass and a soft waxy thread. It sits near Alves in Moray, east of Forres, in the heart of Speyside. It was founded in 1810 as Kilnflat by William Paul, taking the Glenburgie name in 1878.
Worked unhurried through the stillhouse, for the light, fruity make the Ballantine's blenders prized. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the American oak lending vanilla and a light honey. In integration coconut and vanilla knit with the malt, the apple softening towards a waxy honey. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards beeswax, tropical fruit and a gentle spice. First fill wood drives the maturation, the cask clear in the spirit. Built for the blender's art, the make ages with quiet grace as a single malt.
At 46% it is smooth and fruity. A soft, orchard led sweetness with a floral lift, lifted by a soft oak. It is soft and gently waxy, the light spirit shining through. Green apple, honey and a soft oak see it out. This is a light, waxy Speyside single malt.
