Glenallachie White Heather 21 Years Old is a 21 year old blended Scotch from GlenAllachie, a revival of an old Mackinlay blend by Billy Walker. Its stills were doubled from two to four within months of opening, the lyne arms angled down for a fuller spirit.

GlenAllachie's full malt rounds it with a deep, fruity weight. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the full character to the fore. The casks are picked closely, the wood matched to the rich GlenAllachie make. The full bodied spirit takes active wood well, carrying its dark sugars through the years. Active first fill wood drives the maturation, the cask deep in the malt. Years in oak deepen the spirit to a darker gold, the body growing rounder and more resinous with time. Maturation runs slow and even in the on site dunnage warehouses at Aberlour. The full spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out its darker register. The wood frames the spirit without ever stripping the full Speyside body.

At its natural 48% it is rich and chewy. Raisin, chocolate and a warm spice run through it. Dried fruit and a treacle sit behind the spice. It finishes long, full and fruity. A characterful blended Scotch.
