This official GlenAllachie, a 12 year old, from 2009, cask 5015, at 58%, 318 bottles in all. GlenAllachie is a rich, sherried Speyside malt from Aberlour, built on full bodied spirit and active casks. It was built for the 1960s blend boom, its make long destined for the blender's vat. Its stills were doubled from two to four within months of opening, the lyne arms angled down for a fuller spirit.

Taken gently through wash and spirit stills, building a deep malt of dried fruit and dark sugar. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the full character to the fore. In integration coconut and vanilla knit with the malt, the orchard notes deepening to sultana, date and chocolate. Maturation runs slow and even in the on site dunnage warehouses at Aberlour. The full spirit deepens with time, the cask drawing out its darker register. The full bodied spirit takes active wood well, carrying its dark sugars through the years.

At a hearty 58% it carries real weight. Date, fig and a warm cinnamon, lifted by a sweet oak. The body is full and rich, the fruit deep and dark. The finish runs long, full and warming. This is GlenAllachie's deep, fruity Speyside style.
