This official GlenAllachie, a 30 year old, cask Batch 1, at 48.9%, 2000 bottles in all. GlenAllachie is a Speyside single malt, revived in 2017 by the team of Billy Walker. It was built for the 1960s blend boom, its make long destined for the blender's vat. Its stills were doubled from two to four within months of opening, the lyne arms angled down for a fuller spirit. Its water is the Lochnagar Burn, drawn down from the slopes of Ben Rinnes.

The spirit was taken gently through wash and spirit stills, shaping a rich Speyside body with real weight. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the full character to the fore. At a great, fragile age oxidation rules, sotolon lending maple and dried fig as beeswax and old leather linger. Long ageing turns the fresh notes towards date, prune and a dark, bittersweet chocolate. The full bodied spirit takes active wood well, carrying its dark sugars through the years.

At a hearty 48.9% it carries real weight. Date, fig and a warm cinnamon, with a warm oak spice. The body is full and rich, the fruit deep and dark. A long finish carries raisin, chocolate and a treacle. This is a full bodied Speyside single malt of real richness.
