A distillery release of GlenAllachie, a 10 year old, at 48%, a festival bottling. This is part of The Wood Collection. GlenAllachie is a rich, sherried Speyside malt from Aberlour, built on full bodied spirit and active casks. It matures its spirit in sixteen dunnage warehouses on the distillery site at Aberlour. It was bought in 2017 by Billy Walker and two partners, fresh from selling BenRiach, GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh.

The spirit was taken gently through wash and spirit stills, shaping a rich Speyside body with real weight. It was fully matured in a Port cask, the wood deep in the rich spirit. In integration coconut and vanilla knit with the malt, the orchard notes deepening to sultana, date and chocolate. The wood frames the spirit without ever stripping the full Speyside body. Years in oak deepen the spirit to a darker gold, the body growing rounder and more resinous with time.

At a hearty 48% it carries real weight. Date, fig and a warm cinnamon, with red berry, plum and a dry spice from the cask. A dark chocolate and a soft oak give it weight. The finish is rounded, dark and spiced. This is a full bodied Speyside single malt of real richness.
