A 10 year old GlenAllachie, a distillery bottling, cask Batch 12, at 59.7%. GlenAllachie is a Speyside single malt known for its heavy sherry and wine cask maturation. It was built for the 1960s blend boom, its make long destined for the blender's vat.

Run slowly off the spirit still, shaping a rich Speyside body with real weight. Maturation came in a Pedro Ximenez cask, layered over the full GlenAllachie make. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin rounding out as esters lend riper orchard fruit and a chocolate depth. The wood frames the spirit without ever stripping the full Speyside body. Years in oak deepen the spirit to a darker gold, the body growing rounder and more resinous with time. The full bodied spirit takes active wood well, carrying its dark sugars through the years. The casks are picked closely, the wood matched to the rich GlenAllachie make.

Bottled at a cask strength 59.7%, it is deep and concentrated. Date, fig and a warm cinnamon, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. Fig, honey and a dark chocolate fill the middle. The finish runs long, full and warming. This is the sherry led malt of Aberlour.
