Glen Scotia from the distillery, an 8 year old, from 2012, cask 19/660-4, at 55.2%, 326 bottles in all. Glen Scotia is a maritime Campbeltown malt, one of the last three of a town that once held thirty. It runs a single pair of stills and shell and tube condensers for a slow, oily make.

It was worked through the stills for an oily, coastal make, giving a coastal, briny Campbeltown spirit. A Tawny Port cask held it, shaping the coastal spirit over the years. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin (vanilla) and toasted sugars (light caramel) over the salty make. A long ferment gives a fruity make that ages with a coastal, oily grace. The Campbeltown style is oily and salted, the cask deepening it over the years. The slow distillation and shell and tube condensers give the oily Glen Scotia body. Crosshill Loch water and a long ferment give the oily, coastal Glen Scotia make.

At a hearty 55.2% it carries real weight. A briny, oily coastal fruit, with a nutty, raisined red fruit from the cask. A baked apple and a sea salt lift it. The finish is rounded, salted and oily. This is the oily, salted malt of the Wee Toon.
