An official release of Glen Scotia, a 7 year old, from 2016, cask 23/777-1, at 57.2%, 220 bottles in all. Glen Scotia is a salty, oily Campbeltown malt from the west coast of Scotland. Its malt comes from Greencore Maltings in southwest Scotland.

It was distilled slowly in a single pair of stills for an oily, coastal make, for an oily spirit with a coastal, salted edge. Maturation came in a Port cask, layered over the briny Glen Scotia make. In these extractive early years the oak gives vanillin as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over a briny, oily spirit. The oily, coastal spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and brine to the fore. It was founded in 1832 as Scotia, one of the survivors of Campbeltown's Victorian whisky boom. Long ageing turns the fresh citrus towards dried fruit, salted toffee and a soft spice. Years in oak round the spirit, the brine and citrus deepening to a salted toffee.

At cask strength 57.2% it is full bodied. Sea salt, oil and a salted toffee, with red berry, plum and a dry spice from the cask. The mouthfeel is oily, the fruit carried on a briny body. The finish is long, oily and salted. This is the oily, salted malt of the Wee Toon.
