From the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, a 9 year old Glen Scotia, distilled in 2013, from cask 93.200, bottled at 61.1%, one of 207 bottles. Glen Scotia is a Campbeltown single malt from a town once called the whisky capital of the world. It was founded in 1832 as Scotia, one of the survivors of Campbeltown's Victorian whisky boom.

The spirit was distilled slowly in a single pair of stills for an oily, coastal make, for a briny, oily make of salt, citrus and a salted toffee. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the oily spirit. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit fresh, oily and coastal. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the briny Campbeltown spirit. Its water is drawn from Crosshill Loch above the town. Refill oak lets the salty, oily Glen Scotia character lead the way. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit.

At cask strength 61.1% it is full bodied. A briny, oily coastal fruit, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is oily and briny, the coastal spirit shining through. It finishes long, briny and oily. This is the oily, salted malt of the Wee Toon.
