This Glen Scotia was bottled by the London house Berry Bros and Rudd, a 16 year old, distilled in 1992, from cask 220 & 234, bottled at 55.7%. Glen Scotia is a coastal Campbeltown malt sitting between heavier Springbank and lighter Glengyle. Its Victoriana and single cask releases have won the distillery wide acclaim.

The spirit was worked through the stills for an oily, coastal make, building the Campbeltown Glen Scotia style. It was matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood working into the oily malt. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the salty, oily malt deepening. A long ferment gives a fruity make that ages with a coastal, oily grace. It has been owned by the Loch Lomond Group since the 1990s, after many changes of hands. The Campbeltown style is oily and salted, the cask deepening it over the years. The cool, salt laden Campbeltown air gives a slow, coastal maturation in the warehouses.

Bottled at a cask strength 55.7%, it is rich. A coastal, oily sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The mouthfeel is oily, the fruit carried on a briny body. The finish is rounded, salted and oily. This is an oily, coastal malt from the Kintyre coast.
