An official release of Glen Scotia, a 14 year old, at 52.8%, 15000 bottles in all. Glen Scotia is a Campbeltown single malt made on Crosshill Loch water in the Wee Toon. It runs a single pair of stills and shell and tube condensers for a slow, oily make.

The spirit was drawn off the stills after a long ferment for a fruity, briny spirit, for a briny, oily make of salt, citrus and a salted toffee. It was matured in a Tawny Port cask, the wood working into the oily malt. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into a rounded vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper citrus and a salted toffee. The oily, coastal spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and brine to the fore. A former owner, Duncan MacCallum, drowned in the loch that fed the distillery, and is said to haunt it. Its Victoriana and single cask releases have won the distillery wide acclaim. Years in oak round the spirit, the brine and citrus deepening to a salted toffee.

Bottled at a cask strength 52.8%, it is rich. An oily, salted sweetness, with a nutty, raisined red fruit from the cask. A baked apple and a sea salt lift it. The finish is rounded, salted and oily. This is a maritime Campbeltown single malt.
