An official release of Glen Scotia, a 10 year old, at 40%. Glen Scotia is a coastal, briny Campbeltown malt, founded in 1832 on the Kintyre peninsula. The Glen was added to the Scotia name around 1930, the distillery dating to 1832.

Made on Crosshill Loch water in the heart of Campbeltown, for the salty, oily make Glen Scotia is known for. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the briny make lead. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the salty, oily spirit growing rounder. Refill oak lets the salty, oily Glen Scotia character lead the way. It has been owned by the Loch Lomond Group since the 1990s, after many changes of hands. Campbeltown, the Wee Toon, once held some thirty distilleries and was the whisky capital of the world. A long ferment gives a fruity make that ages with a coastal, oily grace. A gentle maturation suits the oily make, the sea salt and toffee growing with time.

Bottled at 40%, it is rounded. A coastal, oily sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A dried fruit and a soft oak give it depth. Citrus, salt and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a maritime Campbeltown single malt.
