Glen Moray Hand Bottled at the Distillery 2006

This official Glen Moray, from 2006, cask 3390, at 61.7%. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt known for vanilla, honey and orchard fruit. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most.

Drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, building the fresh Glen Moray style. An Oloroso cask shaped the finish, over the fruity Glen Moray spirit. No age is given, but vanillin vanilla and a bright apple are well integrated. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin.

At 61.7%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. The finish runs light, fruity and clean. This is a Speyside single malt of real value.
