Description
A 12 year old Glen Moray from That Boutique-y Whisky Company, bottled at 48.5%, one of 213 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from La Martiniquaise, light and approachable in style. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin.
Worked through the stills for a light, sweet make, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. A bourbon barrel held it, the wood adding a light vanilla and a soft honey. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the light, fruity spirit growing rounder. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie. The accessible, fruity make is the base for the distillery's many cask finishes.
At a hearty 48.5% it carries real weight. Green apple, honey and a gentle oak, with a soft vanilla from the oak. The texture is light and clean, the fruit lifted by vanilla. A long, fruity finish carries a green apple and a soft spice. This is the easy, fruity malt of Elgin.
