Description
A 9 year old Glen Moray from the bottler TnT-Casks, distilled in 2012, from cask TNT 6423, bottled at 53.2%, one of 86 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside malt from Elgin, the heart of the Cutty Sark and Label 5 blends. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin.
The spirit was worked through the stills for a light, sweet make, building the fresh Glen Moray style. Maturation finished in a Fino cask, layered over the light Glen Moray make. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit fresh, light and fruity. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make.
At a hearty 53.2% it carries real weight. A light, orchard fruit and toffee, with a dry, bready, almond note from the cask. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. Apple, pear and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a light Speyside malt from the banks of the Lossie.
