Description
A 9 year old Glen Moray from the bottler Kintra Whisky, distilled in 2007, from cask 6712, bottled at 55.4%, one of 138 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt known for vanilla, honey and orchard fruit. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand.
Distilled from unpeated malt in copper pot stills, building the fresh Glen Moray style. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanillin lending vanilla under the apple. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit fresh, light and fruity. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear.
At cask strength 55.4% it is full bodied. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. A long, fruity finish carries a green apple and a soft spice. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
