Description
An 8 year old Glen Moray from the bottler Whiskybroker.co.uk, distilled in 2013, from cask 893A, bottled at 54.6%, one of 285 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie.
It was drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the light fruit lead. In these extractive early years the oak gives vanillin as vanilla and oak lactones as coconut over bright green apple and pear. The cool Speyside air gives a slow, even maturation in the Glen Moray warehouses at Elgin. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin.
At cask strength 54.6% it is full bodied. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is a light, fruity Speyside single malt.
