Description
The bottler Sexywhisky bottled this Glen Moray, an 8 year old, distilled in 2013, bottled at 54.6%, one of 30 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt known for vanilla, honey and orchard fruit. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish.
Distilled light and fruity in the Glen Moray style, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the fresh, fruity character to the fore. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit fresh, light and fruity. A pioneer of wine cask finishing, Glen Moray has long layered fruit over its light malt. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way.
At its natural 54.6% it is concentrated. Green apple, vanilla and a soft honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. Apple, pear and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a fresh, fruity Speyside single malt.
