Description
From the bottler Scotch Single Malt Circle, an 8 year old Glen Moray, distilled in 2007, from cask 900029, bottled at 64.8%. Glen Moray is a light, easy Speyside single malt with a long line of cask finishes. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise.
The spirit was drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. It was finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood layered over the light malt. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin (vanilla) and toasted sugars (light caramel) over the clean, fruity spirit. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards dried fruit, honey and a soft spice. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. The accessible, fruity make is the base for the distillery's many cask finishes.
At cask strength 64.8% it is full bodied. A clean, fruity sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
