This Glen Moray was bottled by Morrison and MacKay, a 6 year old, distilled in 2012, bottled at 47.5%, one of 225 bottles. Glen Moray, founded in 1897 in a former brewery, is one of Speyside's best loved malts. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.

It was distilled from unpeated malt in copper pot stills, for the light, fruity make Glen Moray is known for. Finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood building over the fruity, light spirit. At an extractive age eugenol lends a clove note and lactones a coconut, the spirit fresh, light and fruity. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make.

At a natural 47.5% it is full and fruity. Baked apple, vanilla and a creamy toffee, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is the easy, fruity malt of Elgin.
