A 5 year old Glen Moray, a distillery bottling, at 40%. Glen Moray, founded in 1897 in a former brewery, is one of Speyside's best loved malts. It runs a large still house at Elgin, expanded over the years to meet demand.

It was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, for a clean make of orchard fruit and a soft honey. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. Young and extractive, the cask sheds vanillin (vanilla) and toasted sugars (light caramel) over the clean, fruity spirit. River Lossie water and the tall stills give the light Glen Moray make. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit.

At 40% it is smooth and fruity. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a creamy vanilla sit behind the cask. Apple, pear and a soft oak see out the finish. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
