A Glen Moray of a 32 year old chosen by the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, distilled in 1991, from cask 35.387, bottled at 55.4%, one of 191 bottles. Glen Moray is a fresh, fruity Speyside malt from the town of Elgin in Moray. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most.

Run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, building the fresh Glen Moray style. Finished in a Pedro Ximenez cask, the wood building over the fruity, light spirit. At a great, fragile age oxidation rules, sotolon lending maple and dried fig as beeswax and honey linger. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. It was a pioneer of wine cask finishing, working with Chardonnay casks back in the 1990s. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie.

At 55.4%, undiluted, it is deep and fruity. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
