Glen Moray 30 Years Old 1991 (Kierzek-Berlin)

A Glen Moray of a 30 year old chosen by the bottler Kierzek-Berlin, distilled in 1991, bottled at 51.1%, one of 129 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt known for vanilla, honey and orchard fruit. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish.

It was distilled light and fruity in the Glen Moray style, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the fresh, fruity character to the fore. In its ethereal years the malt is waxy and oxidative, faded esters and a touch of sotolon (maple, dried fig). Long ageing turns the fresh apple towards dried fruit, honey and a soft spice. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit.

At a natural 51.1% it is full and fruity. A clean, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a creamy vanilla sit behind the cask. A long, fruity finish carries a green apple and a soft spice. This is an approachable Speyside single malt from Elgin.
