This Glen Moray was bottled by The Caskhound, a 20 year old, distilled in 2002, from cask 1219, bottled at 51.4%, one of 264 bottles. Glen Moray is a light, sweet Speyside malt, founded in 1897 on the banks of the River Lossie. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.

The spirit was distilled light and fruity in the Glen Moray style, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the orchard fruit. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise.

At cask strength 51.4% it is full bodied. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is a Speyside single malt of real value.
