Description
A Glen Moray of a 19 year old chosen by the Glasgow bottler North Star Spirits, distilled in 2006, from cask 800283, bottled at 56.6%, one of 210 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from La Martiniquaise, light and approachable in style. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie.
The spirit was made on River Lossie water and condensed in shell and tube condensers, building a light, accessible character of orchard fruit and vanilla. An Oloroso cask shaped the finish, over the fruity Glen Moray spirit. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. The light, fruity make takes cask flavour well while keeping its apple and pear. It closed in 1910 and reopened in 1923 under Macdonald and Muir of Glenmorangie.
At its natural 56.6% it is concentrated. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run green apple, pear and a soft vanilla. The finish is long, fruity and clean. This is a fresh, fruity Speyside single malt.
