From the bottler Anam na h-Alba, a 17 year old Glen Moray, distilled in 1998, bottled at 57.6%, one of 123 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style.
Run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. Ex-Bourbon casks held it, the gentle American oak letting the light fruit lead. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. The light spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. Refill oak lets the light, fruity Glen Moray character lead the way. It was built on Gallow Hill at Elgin, the old site of the town's hangings.
At cask strength 57.6% it is full bodied. Pear, honey and a soft malt, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a creamy vanilla sit behind the cask. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is the easy, fruity malt of Elgin.
