From the London house Berry Bros and Rudd, a 15 year old Glen Moray, distilled in 2008, from cask 5709, bottled at 51.7%, one of 210 bottles. Glen Moray is a light, easy Speyside single malt with a long line of cask finishes. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style.

The spirit was distilled from unpeated malt in copper pot stills, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit. A pioneer of wine cask finishing, Glen Moray has long layered fruit over its light malt. Its water is drawn from the River Lossie, which runs past the distillery at Elgin. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore.

At a natural 51.7% it is full and fruity. A clean, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A soft fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. The finish is rounded, fruity and clean. This is a Speyside single malt of real value.
