This Glen Moray was bottled by Archives, a 15 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask 5671, bottled at 55.2%, one of 112 bottles. Glen Moray is a Speyside single malt from Elgin, known for its light, fruity and accessible style. Its make is a key malt in the Cutty Sark and Label 5 blends.

The spirit was drawn off the stills for a clean, fruity Speyside spirit, giving a clean, sweet Speyside spirit. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, a soft vanilla beneath the orchard fruit. At oxidative maturity aldehydes lend a nutty edge while ellagitannins add a gentle, drying grip over the fruit. The accessible, fruity make is the base for the distillery's many cask finishes. It has been owned since 2008 by the French house La Martiniquaise. Years in oak round the spirit, the green apple deepening to honey and dried fruit. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish.

At a hearty 55.2% it carries real weight. Apple, pear and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. Soft orchard fruit and a creamy vanilla sit behind the cask. The finish runs light, fruity and clean. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
