The London house Berry Bros and Rudd bottled this Glen Moray, a 15 year old, distilled in 2008, from cask 16, bottled at 50.3%, one of 269 bottles. Glen Moray is a fruity Speyside malt made on River Lossie water at Elgin. It was founded in 1897 in the converted Elgin West Brewery, on the banks of the River Lossie.

Run through the stills on River Lossie water for a light make, for a light, easy spirit with a soft malt. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. At oxidative maturity vanillin and lactones are fully expressed, the light fruit deepening to honey. Maturation in the bonded warehouses at Elgin is slow and steady. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum. Most of its malt matures first in American oak ex-Bourbon before any cask finish. A pioneer of wine cask finishing, Glen Moray has long layered fruit over its light malt.

At cask strength 50.3% it is full bodied. Green apple, vanilla and a soft honey, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is fresh and fruity, the light spirit shining through. A fresh finish ends on apple and a soft oak. This is Glen Moray's clean, accessible Speyside style.
